Tom Wiggans, Democratic Candidate for Kansas Governor
[Updated] California businessman Tom Wiggans announced Tuesday he is running for Kansas Governor as the Democratic Party candidate.
Who is new Olathe resident Tom Wiggans, and why does he want to be our next governor?
Little is known about Wiggans, except for his new campaign web site and video introduction.
His record of political contributions, voter registration and voting history gives some clues.
Political Contributions
The search feature of the Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission’s web site shows Wiggans first gave to Gov. Kathleen Sebelius (D) twice in 2006, and contributed to three key state senate races and one state representative race in 2008.

Apparently Wiggans moved to Olathe after March 31, 2009 and before Sept 14, 2009.
Voter Registration
Tom Wiggans registered as a Democrat at the Olathe address given above on 7/6/2009. No earlier Kansas voter registration for Wiggans can be found.
His wife, Kathryn Wiggans, registered at that address on 9/2/2009. The Johnson County Election Office said no one else is registered at that address at this time.

In March 2009, Wiggans lived at 1 Patricia Dr, Atherton, CA. Here’s the Google map view for that address:
[Update] In Sept 2009, Wiggans listed his address as 10981 S. Parish in Olathe. This real estate site gives a virtual tour of the house at that address.
Google can’t find that address in this new area of Olathe. This Bing map shows this address was recently an empty lot.
