About 300 concerned citizens from Kansas and Missouri attended a class about the U.S. Constitution on Saturday morning at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center in Kansas City, MO.
A 2-hour presentation followed by an hour of questions was led by UMKC Constitutional Law Professor Kris Kobach.
Some highlights from Kobach’s talk are shown in the video below:
- the 2 amendments that were not passed when the first 10 amendments were ratified,
- the Lopez decision and the Commerce Clause,
- one reason why “Obamacare” is unconstitutional,
- why U.S. Senator Arlen Specter (D, Pennsylvania) would get an “F” in his class,
- enumerated powers (federal government) vs unenumerated powers (state government), and,
- two reasons why Kansas Senator Mary Pilcher Cook’s (R, Shawnee) Kansas Health Care Freedom Amendment is a good idea.
After a 2-hour presentation about the U.S. Constitution, Kobach answers questions from the audience.
Three U.S. congressional candidates from the 3rd district of Kansas agreed to give their reflections in the video about Kobach’s talk regarding the Constitution, and federal vs. state powers. These candidates are:
- Dan Gilyeat, R, Kansas City, KS
- John Rysavy, R, Overland Park
- Nick Jordan, R, Shawnee
Kris Kobach (R, Kansas City, KS) is a candidate for the Kansas Secretary of State.
Three members of the Kansas City area group, Preserving American Liberty, appear in the video to explain their group’s educational effort about the U.S. Constitution, as well as promoting limited government and free markets.
