About
KansasWatchdog.org: Keeping an eye on Kansas government
KansasWatchdog.org is an independent online resource supporting government of, by and for the people of Kansas. The news site presents original investigative reports into state and local issues, regular blog updates and news and commentary from a variety of sources around the state. The focus is on government waste and inefficiency, political corruption and anything that goes against free-market principles and the core values of the U.S. and Kansas constitutions.
KansasWatchdog.org, a project of the Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity, a national non-profit journalism organization, that serves as a capacity builder and networking agent for independent, state-based journalists and organizations. We also want to recruit reliable citizen journalists. Anyone interested in becoming a Watchdog and contributing tips, information, expertise or helping in any other way can contact us via staff email addresses or at Kansas@Watchdog.org or (316)734-5431.
The Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity affords reporters across the country the opportunity to share information, investigative techniques and resources. By enhancing communication between reporters, the consortium hopes to promote a vibrant 4th Estate, a well-informed electorate and a more transparent government.
KansasWatchdog was launched in September 2009 as a joint project of the Franklin Center and the Kansas Policy Institute, a Kansas-based think tank that conducts research and initiates reform in education, fiscal policy and health care.
